~Pumpkin Spice and Everything Nice~

Tis’ the season of cinnamon, falling leaves and most importantly pumpkin spice. With the temperature beginning to drop here in Georgia we as secret garden soap have officially gotten into the autumn spirit and hope you have been to. While we sip our mulled cider and get ready for our annual holiday Soapin’ House sale we thought it would be fun to remind everyone of the amazing cosmetic and health benefits of our favorite fall flavor - pumpkin.

~Vitamin C & Carotenoids~

Vitamin C is so important for protecting the skin from the damaging rays of the sun that are present not only in summer but also in fall and winter. Consuming or using pumpkin product can help the skin replenish levels of vitamin C which will stave off damage such as wrinkles and even skin cancer. Carotenoids on the other hand are also found in carrots and responsible for the bright orange color of our favorite squash. They are protective antioxidants that are also responsible for protection from UV damage as well as protection and rejuvenation of the eyes.

~ Holy Exfoliation!~

Products that contain pumpkin often contain the remnants of enzymes that at one time protected the fruit from damage from the soil and from critters. These enzyme can chemically break down the dead cells on your skin and give you an effortless glow through non-scratch exfoliation.

~Anti-Acne~

Other vitamins in pumpkin products such as more commonly known, torulitine, can play a large role in controlling oil on the skin as well as lessening the size of your pores. This make pumpkin a strong natural skin toner.
